Scott Macleod
G.M. & Fender Repair Tech • Bassist
Scott started playing bass in 1972.His first band \'SWAN\' based in Mississauga, Ontario, played Led Zeppelin, Queen,original music and rock and roll covers from the era.Living close to Detroit,Scott was influenced heavily by the sounds of Motown and became a huge Motown,R&B and James Jamerson fan.
Scott began teaching bass as early as the 9 th grade. Some of his students went on to play for bands like Coney Hatch, Parachute Club, Billy Idol and Alanna Miles.
In high school Scott discovered jazz & blues and was able to jump right in and play 5 years in jazz combo, although still gigging in his own rock band on weekends.
Scott met Oscar Peterson in the late 70\'s and was proud to sit in on a number of sessions. Thus continuing a love affair with Jazz music as well.Moving to Vancouver in 1982 Scott joined a new up and coming rock band called \'Mr. Cairo\'. Now in a full-time touring band, Scott also jammed [played]with David Coverdale of \'Whitesnake\' ,Randy Rampage of D.O.A. and began his studio musician career as well.
Becoming a dad in 1988, fatherhood replaced touring. Scott branched again into teaching and studio work. He moved to Nanaimo in 1990, and began his musical retail career at Nanaimo Music Store in 1991.
In September of 2000, Dave contacted Scott and offered him a job to manage his newly expanding music store Music Maxx. Scott accepted and joined the Music Maxx team in March of 2001. With him Scott brought years of experience, both as a salesman,musician and repair technician. With his addition, Music Maxx reached a whole new level as a music store.
As a musician, Scott plays bass, electric and stand-up for David Gogo and The Legendary Platters and The Inkspots.
